There are no special requirements for admissions into the Spencer Teen Family Program, just a willingness to make a change in the family. The good news is that you've already gone through the hard part, the turmoil brought on by destructive behavior patterns that create anger, resentment and frustration in the family. It only gets easier and productive once you are admitted into the program. Simply call our 800 number to begin the process. You will receive an initial assessment of your situation and will be invited into the program. Our professional staff will take it from there.

Our staff medical doctor will conduct a full exam if health risks are an issue. In cases of drug and alcohol abuse, often medications are required for detoxification and withdrawal periods. Through an extensive personal interview, our staff psychologist will develop a treatment plan to address the family's specific needs in respect to the teenager. The family will be invited to stay at a Spencer guest residence and all treatment will be conducted at the licensed facility nearby.

The stay at the guest residence is much like a vacation stay at a hotel. The residence itself is located only a block away from a beautiful Southern California beach and the town of Laguna Beach is intimate while offering all the attractions tourist expect. Rent a bike for a beach ride or visit a different restaurant every night, the town has it all. The most important feature is of course being close to your teenager and being able to attend the many family groups geared toward strengthening your relationship and solving the problems at hand. Other family activities at Spencer include one-on-one counseling and chemical dependency education.

The client is the teenager and he or she will be at our treatment facility all day working in groups or independently with a counselor. The benefit of our family program is that the teenager can stay with the family at night to continue to work on family cohesion.
